First Day After Our Break

After a nice two-week break from all classes, it feels good to get back into a schedule. That being said, Honors Human Geo was my first academic class of the 2020 decade. To better prepare myself for the subject, I looked over my Quizlets in an attempt to spark a trigger that would allow me to get right back into Human Geo. I was able to recap plenty of the subjects we had gone over in the past months which certainly helped as we reintroduced ourselves into Human Geo today. 

We started today's class off with a review of our Exam (kind of) which gave us an idea of the parts of Human Geo inn which we still struggled with. That went on for about 15 minutes before we slowly shifted over to learn about "Guns, Germs, and Steels" a non-fiction novel regarding the modernization of human civilization (that rhymes!). I am eager to watch the remainder of the film by National Geographic because not only is it long, but it will serve as a smooth transition from our current topics into Western Civilization. 

More on Guns, Germs, and Steel; we were able to review the main points in which we will learn about in following days. This includes: Why some nations succeed more than others? How does domestication of animals assist in societal success? How does a surplus of food help society progress? How does having better agricultural techniques? 

With that said, I reserve all further comments for use in tomorrows class.

As discussed yesterday, we were instructed to write an essay question which would be used on the upcoming test. As a matter of fact, we were informed that our test (or at least part of it) is going to be during our class time this Thursday. Meaning we have a fair amount of time to study still; though, we expect to receive more information regarding the format of the test soon. Cyber Day; Post Nine

In light of yesterday's assignment, we were instructed today to reflect on our accountability throughout these times of social distancing. This includes: actively participating in social distancing, cleaning ourselves, and giving our best efforts to remain home. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that everyone takes these guidelines too seriously. I've seen plenty of people online going about their normal hangouts with large groups of friends, rather than distancing themselves to slow the spread. Weeks ago, we were struggling to perform tests. Now it seems that the FDA approval time has been expedited for the purpose of introducing faster COVID-19 testing kits as well as possible vaccines. There seems to be a lot of de-regulation occurring to allow businesses to survive in such a harsh time. Simply put, if no-ones out there spending money, the economy will not grow (or will have very little growth). As a student, I find myself more stressed out than usual since I'm locked

Today, rather than a deep analysis of a new subject, we were instead instructed to find two images of classical Greece Architecture. A subject which I truly enjoy learning about. Those images are posted directly below:  First Image: The Parthenon, Acropolis of Athens Likely one of the most recognizable structures in Greece would be the massive structure located on the hill of Acropolis, The Parthenon. This structure was likely created over an eleven-year span (447 BC - 438 BC) and was dedicated to the goddess Athena. The structure, incredibly after over 2,000 years still remains intact; though somewhat damaged from the years of exposure it's been put through. It is also important to realize that this structure stood as a symbol for the religions which the Greeks practiced since it represented one of their goddesses'.
