More on City-States in Mesopotamia

Just like yesterday, our Western Civilization class focused on the textbook and were told to answer a question on our blogs that very night, today was no different. Though today while we continued to read, I didn't know what our questions would be, so I didn't look out for certain points. But luckily I took plenty of notes to suffice for that. 

Here's the question (#5) in our textbook that we had to answer for Homework: 

What areas of life did Hammurabi Code cover?

During its peak, the Babylonian Empire, under the rule of Hammurabi, used a set of laws which were equal, yet varied depending on your own social class. This means that depending on your rank in the hierarchy, you may receive a lesser punishment than somebody with a different occupation/ position. These punishments would be implemented when one of Hammurabis Code is broken, these rules consisted of fairness, equality, and justice for those in need of it. This included rules regarding children and women, who were to be of value to society unlike how they would be treated in other societies in the future. Hammurabis Code especially focused on fair punishments,  such as death if you, yourself, was a murderer.

As discussed yesterday, we were instructed to write an essay question which would be used on the upcoming test. As a matter of fact, we were informed that our test (or at least part of it) is going to be during our class time this Thursday. Meaning we have a fair amount of time to study still; though, we expect to receive more information regarding the format of the test soon. Cyber Day; Post Nine

In light of yesterday's assignment, we were instructed today to reflect on our accountability throughout these times of social distancing. This includes: actively participating in social distancing, cleaning ourselves, and giving our best efforts to remain home. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that everyone takes these guidelines too seriously. I've seen plenty of people online going about their normal hangouts with large groups of friends, rather than distancing themselves to slow the spread. Weeks ago, we were struggling to perform tests. Now it seems that the FDA approval time has been expedited for the purpose of introducing faster COVID-19 testing kits as well as possible vaccines. There seems to be a lot of de-regulation occurring to allow businesses to survive in such a harsh time. Simply put, if no-ones out there spending money, the economy will not grow (or will have very little growth). As a student, I find myself more stressed out than usual since I'm locked

Today, rather than a deep analysis of a new subject, we were instead instructed to find two images of classical Greece Architecture. A subject which I truly enjoy learning about. Those images are posted directly below:  First Image: The Parthenon, Acropolis of Athens Likely one of the most recognizable structures in Greece would be the massive structure located on the hill of Acropolis, The Parthenon. This structure was likely created over an eleven-year span (447 BC - 438 BC) and was dedicated to the goddess Athena. The structure, incredibly after over 2,000 years still remains intact; though somewhat damaged from the years of exposure it's been put through. It is also important to realize that this structure stood as a symbol for the religions which the Greeks practiced since it represented one of their goddesses'.
